This show the left (3 - 4) bank of a Type 1 Beetle Sedan.
NOTE: no fuel filter in the
engine compartment.
Zündfolge is firing order in German. This is on the base of the
alternator/generator stand.
In the photo: 1 points to the timing mark
Here is the center and right (1-2) bank of the engine.
Please note: The use of the STOCK generator/alternator pulley and nut.
The carburetor is a Solex 34 Pic 3. The air cleaner is a stock
oil bath cleaner.
Here is an example of what is called Alternator Acorn nut. These
things may look great but they come off at bad times, usually when you
are drive on an interstate and are 20 miles from any town. If
you really want the chrome look, get a stock pulley nut and pulley
then either paint them with chrome paint or get them chromed.
This is on a '73 Thing. (obviously)
The Main pulley is a Degreed pulley. This makes timing the engine much
easier. Sometimes Degreed pulleys are NOT accurate. Dave
is not real sure if his is or not, but we will be checking that
soon!!!!
