 Flush your braking system

With the newest Air Cooled VW on the road being over 25 years old (except for the Beetles built in Mexico) the fluid needs to be flushed. Years of rust, scale and debris collects in the brake lines inhibiting the system to working its full potential. The easiest way to flush your brake lines is by opening up the bleeder screws and let gravity do the work.
Keep the brake reservoir full with fresh fluid. Use DOT 3 fluid or better. Repeat this until you fluid that is coming out is clean. Expect to use a few containers of new brake fluid. Remember NEVER use anything on the fasteners or bolts to lubricate the threads on the brake system except brake fluid.  If you do the fluid will be contaminated and will cause problems.

You will see more on how to Flush your brakes see our Flushing Brakes page.
