Flywheel Oil Seal/O-ring Installation

This procedure is for the installation of Flywheels, Flywheel Oil Seals and Flywheel O-Rings. 

If you have to replace a Flywheel, always replace the oil seal and O-ring.

You will need a FLAT surface to complete this repair for your safety.

READ ALL OF THIS PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT.  DO NOT PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUT OF ORDER.  THIS WILL RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

TOOLS NEEDED:

  1. Flat Blade screwdriver

  2. 8,10,13,17, 19 mm wrench

  3. 8,10,13,17,19mm socket 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive

  4. 1/2 or 3/8 drive ratchet

  5. Engine dolly (not required but VERY helpful)

  6. Floor Jack (4000 lbs. capacity)

  7. 2 jack stands

  8. 2 Wheel Chocks

  9. Tire iron or "Tire Star"

  10. Clutch Alignment tool or a pilot shaft

  11. Flywheel lock

  12. Torque wrench 260ft lbs or higher

  13. A second person (very helpful, but not required)

Parts needed:

  1. Flywheel oil seal

  2. Flywheel O-Ring

Procedure for installation

  1. Pre-Lube the oil seal and O-ring with new engine oil.

  2. Install Oil Seal

  3. Install O-ring

  4. Mount the Flywheel

  5. Tighten down the gland nut

  6. Torque the gland nut using Torque Specifications

  7. Use Steps 1 - 6 in the procedure listed on  Clutch Installation page.

  8. Use the procedure listed on  Engine Installation page.

  9. YOU ARE DONE!!!!!!!!!
