  • READ ALL OF  THIS PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT.  DO NOT PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUT OF ORDER.  THIS WILL RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

TOOLS NEEDED:

  1. Jumper Cables; approximately 8' - 10  ' long

     

Procedure for Jumpstarting

  1. The battery is located in different places according to what type of V-dub you have. it is usually in the engine compartment or under the back seat or in the case of the type four it is under the drivers seat.

  2. Make sure that the cable clips are not touching the body.

  3. On the discharged battery red to positive terminal and the black to the negative terminal.

  4. Make sure the other end of the jumper cable are not touching the other vehicle and make sure the two vehicles are not touching, then connect the positive clip to the positive terminal of the battery.

  5. Connect the black clip to the chaise of the vehicle being used to charge the battery of the vehicle; away from the battery as far as possible.

  6. Start charging vehicle and run for approximately 10 min. at high idle.

  7. Turn engine off of the charging vehicle and start vehicle with originally dead battery.

  8. Once charged vehicle is started disconnect black cable from charging vehicle then the red clip ; do not let the clips touch and then disconnect the black clip from charged battery and the the red clip from battery.

  9. Leave engine running at high idle or drive for approximately 10 min.
