Oil LeaksTranslate this page
Slow leaks are not unusual for your VW, it is just marking its spot. But a fast leak is very bad and will cause eventual premature engine failure. Typically, a new or rebuilt engine should not leak, unless the rebuilt was not done correctly. Over time, the engine can develop leaks. Improper or lack of Maintenance (for example: not changing the oil at the proper interval) is the leading cause of engine oil leaks. "Well, my VW is leaving enough oil to fill a supertanker. Where in the world could my oil be leaking from?" The answer is several places. Below is a list of the common culprits of engine oil leaks, most common to least common.
