Procedure for soldering

  2. Start by striping the wire with wire stripers.

  3. Strip at least 1/2 inch to 1 inch of the plastic shielding.

  4. Now twist the end of the wire.

  5. Now repeat for other end of wire.

  6. Slide on the heat shrink over one end of the wire and away from the exposed ends of the wire.

  7. Twist the two ends together.

  8. Using the soldering gun and solder, tin the end of the solder gun.

  9. Lay a smooth even amount of solder onto the wire.  This may take some time.

  10. If you do not have another person to hold the wire, clothes pins work well.

  11. The two soldered wires should look like this

  12. Slide the heat shrink down over the soldered connection

  13. Heat the heat shrink with a lighter or small butane torch.

  14. Continue heating until the heat shrink is completely shrunk around the connection and wire.
