The procedure for the installation of starters is
fairly straightforward.
READ THE BENTLEY or HAYNES
MANUAL FIRST!
You will need a FLAT surface to complete
this repair for your safety.
READ ALL OF
THIS PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT. DO NOT
PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUT OF ORDER. THIS WILL RESULT IN DEATH
OR SERIOUS INJURY.

TOOLS NEEDED:
15,
17 and 19mm combination wrenches
13mm 3/8 drive
socket
19mm deep socket
(1/2 inch drive)
1/2 drive break
over bar
3/8
or 1/2 drive ratchet
Multiple
shop towels (least 4)
Floor
Jack (4000 lbs. capacity)
2 jack stands
Parts needed:
Starter (in this case Bosch
#SR15N)
Procedure for Installation
Wiggle the starter into position.
Put on the bottom nut
Slide in top bolt, this usually requires Two
people (one to keep the bolt in place and the other to thread the
nut on).
Connect all wires to the starter only
Tighten both bolts. Torque to 40 to 47 ft
pounds
Put on a little Lithium grease on the threads
of the electrical connections
Tighten down the nuts on the solenoid.
Reconnect the battery.
Finish This procedure by using the
Lowering procedure
