  • READ THE BENTLEY or HAYNES MANUAL FIRST!

  • You will need a FLAT surface to complete this repair for your safety.

  • READ ALL OF  THIS PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT.  DO NOT PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUT OF ORDER.  THIS WILL RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

TOOLS NEEDED:

  1. 13mm Socket (3/8 or 1/2 inch drive)

  2. 1/2 drive break over bar

  3. 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet

  4. Various Extensions for ratchets

  5. 1/4 inch nut driver or Straight (slotted or "Prince") screwdriver

  6. Multiple shop towels (least 15)

  7. lineman dikes or wire cutters

  8. 2 wire coat hangers or Nylon cord

  9. 1 roll masking tape

Procedure for removal

  1. Drive or drain fuel tank until the fuel gauge shows EMPTY or at least in reserve.

  2. Remove the four bolts that hold in fuel tank.

  3. Disconnect all hoses and vacuum lines from tank  

  4. Tie up all of the electric wiring and hoses to prevent damage upon removing the tank.

  5. Disconnect the fuel line for the tank

  6. Remove the fuel tank,

  7. Place tank in a safe place and position
