There are 3 different designations for tire size.

Conventional Method:

8.75R-16.5C

8.75 - Tire Section Width

R - Radial construction (no letter here indicates bias ply construction)

16.5 - Rim Diameter

C - Load Range

Alpha Method

LR60-15B

L - Alpha Designation Letter (the higher the letter, the greater the load limit)

R - Radial construction (no letter here indicates bias ply construction)

60 - Aspect Ratio (Tire section height is 60% as great as the width)

15 - Rim Diameter

B - Load Range

Passenger car: P215/75R15

P - Passenger Car type tire

215 - Tire section Width (millimeters)

75 - Aspect Ratio (Tire section height is 75% as great as the width)

R - Radial construction (no letter here indicates bias ply construction)

Light Trucks: LT215/85R16C

LT - Light Truck type tire

215 - Tire section Width (millimeters)

85 - Aspect Ratio (Tire section height is 85% as great as the width)
